It never ceases to amaze me how dependent we are on technology. I love technology and how much it helps us in our everyday life, but being so dependent on it can really mess things up too. For instance, we all know how frustrating it has been to have technology fail on us during our first two class meetings. As much as it helps us, it can also be a very big frustration. My prior experience with technology has been mostly positive, and the advances in technology continue to make my life easier and more enjoyable. I love that I can keep in contact with friends so easily through email and facebook, and I love having tools such as blackboard to communicate with students and instructors from my classes. However, my laptop is having some issues and there was a week or so when my wireless internet was on the fritz and it drives me crazy, so as great as technology can be, I have also experienced the downside.

In this class, I hope to learn how to use technology to benefit my students. I know that technology can add so much to education, and the age we live in demands it. Even in just these past few years technology has advanced so quickly. New technology comes out what feels like daily. I can hardly imagine what advances we will have made by the time I am a teacher. I sometimes wonder how long it will be before everything we do is digital. Hopefully, this class will help me keep up with the changing times and show me how to use technology to the advantage of my students. I hope that I can learn how to use technology to make my classroom fun and make learning enjoyable for my students. Honestly, I am also very happy that this class fulfills the computer literacy requirement, because that means I can get that out of the way while taking this pre-req for my elementary education major.

My results from the learning styles quiz stated that I am an active learner, which means that I remember things better after having done something with it, like trying out a concept or explaining it to others. I also found out that I am a sensor, which means that I like learning facts and solving problems with well-established methods. I am also a visual learner, and I prefer to see pictures, diagrams, charts, and demonstrations rather than hearing about a subject. I am a sequential learner, which means that I understand things better when they are presented in linear stps and I follow logical steps to find solutions.

I agree with you on the pros and cons of technology. It is great for communicating and many other things, but it can also be frustrating when we become so dependent on it if/when it doesn't work.

I totally agree with how dependent we all are on technology. It's frustrating that is isn't as reliable as we think it should be but it still is way beyond capable of things. Just the other day I realized how much technology is in my life from the basic TV and DVD player to my iPod, ninetendo ds, and laptop! Oh yeah and I love that this class completes my computer literacy requirement!
